The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will host a month-long series of screenings of classic horror films with “Universal’s Legacy of Horror” in October. The series is part of the studio’s year-long 100th anniversary celebration engaging Universal’s fans and all movie lovers in the art of moviemaking. Atomic Monster og Universal Studios hyrer Sean Tretta til at skrive manuskriptet til ‘The Creature From the Black Lagoon’.
Manuskriptet er baseret på en ide skrevet af James Wan, Rafael Jordan og Bryan Coyne.
Wan er i tidlige samtaler om potentielt at instruere en moderne genskabelse, der læner sig op ad intens horror. Det vil markere Wans første instruktørprojekt under det nyligt fusionerede Atomic Monster og Blumhouse.
Atomic Monster vil producere filmen, og Wan er producent. Atomic Monsters Michael Clear og Judson Scott er executive producers.
Sean Tretta har tidligere skrevet serier som ’12 Monkeys’ og ‘Star Trek: Picard’.
Udgivet i 1954, ‘The Creature From the Black Lagoon’, instrueret af Jack Arnold, følger et mærkeligt forhistorisk væsen, der lurer i dybderne af Amazonas-junglen. En gruppe forskere forsøger at fange dyret og bringe det tilbage til civilisationen for undersøgelse. Den originale sort-hvide film blev optaget og præsenteret i 3D. Filmen fik to efterfølgere: ‘Revenge of the Creature’ fra 1955 og ‘The Creature Walks Among Us’ fra 1956.
